【告白の泉（Spring of Confession）】
この老いた身体には長い道のりであった。1000段以上あった螺旋階段に足はがくがくと震えている。
眼の前にやっと彼女の耳が現れた。
耳といってもこちら側の耳たぶは無く、耳の穴も無い。
眼の前にあるのは、細長い指を開いた手の様な、樹の枝の様な、巨大な蜘蛛の様な、物。
よく見るとそれは透き通っている。いや、耳から発せられる光で形作られている。
彼女に願い事を伝えると叶えて貰えると言われている。そしてその願い事は、行きたい場所とされている。
私は他の星系の、ある惑星の名を呟いた。すると、枝の様な光が廻り出し、光の中心から二重螺旋の淡い光がゆっくり延びてきた。
螺旋階段の中を下るエレベーターから降り、チューブに設けられた透明の階段を昇り始めた。
螺旋階段が彫られた樹の隣の樹を廻り込んだ先に、彼女の肩に、何か円筒の物が見える。
あれが噂に聴く、スキップシリンダーなのだろう。
ここは、空間移動装置を護ったまま眠りに就いた、大いなる種族の遺跡である。
ここへ訪れること自体が大変なことであるが、行きたい処へ行けるのであれば、訪問者は少なくないそうだ。
